Hello followers of JMU ACDA, and esteemed High School Colleagues!
It is our pleasure to announce that the 12th annual JMU ACDA High School ChoralFest 2012 will be hosted here at JMU in the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts!
As some of you may recall, the Forbes Center boasts a 600-seat Concert Hall, 200-seat Recital Hall, 500-seat proscenium theatre, 33 new practice rooms, technology lab, faculty offices, and more. It is a phenomenal space, and we are so pleased to have it for our uses once again!
We are also pleased to announce that our guest clinician for this year will be the Florida State University’s Director of Choral Activities, Dr. André Thomas! Dr. André Thomas is a well-established choral conductor, composer, arranger & educator. He has conducted choirs at the state, division,and national conventions of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). We are very excited for Dr. Thomas to arrive on campus to work with JMU Choirs and our visiting high school students!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the annual JMU ACDA ChoralFest, it is a 2-day festival in September where students participate side-by-side with members of the award-winning JMU Chorale in rehearsals, sectionals, activities, and the culminating performance on Saturday afternoon conducted by the guest clinician. Previous guest clinicians include Drs. Jo-Anne van der Vat-Chromy, Karen Kennedy, Jerry Blackstone, Sandra Snow, Patrick Walders, and the legendary Weston Noble.
This year, ChoralFest will take place in the Forbes Center on September 21st and 22nd, 2012. The performance will occur at 4pm in the Forbes Concert Hall, 9/22/12.

Note: Performance space is limited. Schools that are first to register online and send their deposit will be given preference.
